Admission Requirement for Year-1 Entry
 

The admission requirements of the BSc-DSEGA Programme is in line with the University’s minimum entry requirements, which are listed below:

 

I.     HKDSE Applicants Must Have Attained:

 

(a)   English Language: Level 3 or above;

(b)   Chinese Language: Level 3 or above;

(c)   Mathematics: Level 2 or above;

(d)   Citizenship and Social Development: Attained;

(e)   One elective subject: Level 2 or above

 

Other Qualifications

 

(a)   Completed a locally accredited Associate Degree (AD)/Higher Diploma (HD) programme from a recognised institute; OR

(b)   Completed the first year’s study of a locally accredited AD/HD programme from a recognised institute with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above; OR

(c)   Two GCE A-level subjects (excluding Chinese) at Grade E or above; OR

(d)   International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with an overall minimum score of 24; OR

(e)   Mainland applicants reach the second batch of undergraduate scores in the Mainland National Joint College Entrance Examination (NJCEE) of their corresponding provinces and municipalities; OR

(f)     Other equivalent academic qualifications (subject to assessment by the University). 

 

Additional consideration

 

When evaluating applicants for Year One entry, the BSc-DSEGA programme follows the Best Five Subject policy, which includes Mathematics (Compulsory Part), once the minimum entrance requirements of the programme are met. The admission score is calculated based on the total score of the best five subjects. Students who have attained level 4 or above in the "Extended Modules in Mathematics" (Module 1 Calculus and Statistics or Module 2 Algebra and Calculus), or "Information & Communication Technology" at HKDSE will receive preferential consideration.

 

 

Admission Requirement for Year-2 Entry

 

A graduate of a recognized Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) programme in a relevant field, such as digital entertainment or game-related areas, from a Hong Kong institution.

 

Common Block Credit Transfer (CBCT)

 

Applicants admitted to Year 2 at the University will be granted the Common Block Credit Transfer (CBCT) unless otherwise specified, according to the following guidelines:

 

(a)   For Year 2 entry, the number of Block Credits Transfer (BCT) will be determined based on the required credits in the Year 1 curriculum of the HKSYU degree programme that the applicant has applied for.

(b)   In the Year 2 to Year 4 curriculum, applicants will be required to complete CHI102 First Year Chinese II, along with the core courses specified by the programme. They must also earn the required credits for Departmental electives, if applicable. The remaining credits necessary for graduation will consist of free electives.

(c)   Applicants will be exempted from the University General Education requirement.

Applicants who have not achieved a minimum grade of C in English and Chinese in their AD or HD programme will not meet the eligibility criteria for admission to a degree programme at the University unless Chinese was not offered as a subject in their AD or HD programme.

 

Applicants admitted to Year 2 at the University are required to complete First Year Chinese II, which carries 4 credits. This requirement is in place due to the significant importance of "First Year Chinese" in developing and achieving the University graduate attributes. It is important to note that only grades awarded for courses completed at HKSYU will be considered for the final Honours classification.

Admission Requirement for Year-3 Entry

 

A graduate of a recognized Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) programme in a relevant field, such as digital entertainment or game-related areas, from a Hong Kong institution with a GPA of at least 2.5 (out of a 4.0 scale) or above.

 

Applicants who are directly admitted to Year 3 must successfully complete at least 50% of the total number of credits required for the degree programme at HKSYU in order to be eligible for the degree award.

 

Applicants are required to successfully complete and pass First Year Chinese II (4 credits) and English Writing II (3 credits) before graduation. Failure to do so may result in a delay in graduation for up to one year. Students admitted directly to Year 3 will be expected to follow the Year 3 Entry Scheme devised by the Department for their course of study at HKSYU. It is important to note that only grades earned for courses completed at HKSYU will be considered in the final Honours classification.

 

 

Common Block Credit Transfer (CBCT)

 

An eligible AD/HD graduate who is designated as a Year 3 student upon admission will be granted the Common Block Credit Transfer (CBCT). The maximum number of Block Credit Transfer for Year 3 Entry is 50% of the total credits required for the completion of the programme.

 

Applicants admitted to Year 3 at the University will have all language courses and General Education (GE) courses exempted, with the exception of First Year Chinese II (4 credits) and English Writing II (3 credits).
