We are proud to announce that the results of the 2025 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) have been officially released, and our Applied Data Science program has achieved a significant milestone. This year, two teams from our department participated in this prestigious international competition, both earning the Successful Participant award. This accomplishment highlights our students’ strong academic abilities and outstanding teamwork. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Muhammad AZHAR, who served as the advisor for both teams.

The MCM, organized annually by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP), is one of the world’s largest mathematical modeling competitions. The 2025 contest, held from January 24 to January 28 (Eastern Standard Time), attracted an impressive 27,456 teams from over 1,700 universities across more than 20 countries and regions, with participation from over 80,000 students.

The competition covers a diverse range of topics, including economics, management, environment, resources, ecology, medicine, and security. Within just 96 hours, participants are challenged to analyze complex problems, develop mathematical models, validate solutions, and produce a comprehensive academic paper in English.

This year’s award distribution was as follows:

  • Outstanding Winner (Top Award): Top 0.16%
  • Finalist (Honorable Mention for Top Award): Top 2%
  • Meritorious Winner (First Prize): Top 6%-7%
  • Honorable Mention (Second Prize): Top 22%-23%
  • Successful Participant: Approximately Top 46%

The MCM aims to foster students’ ability to apply mathematical knowledge to solve real-world problems, while also encouraging innovation, teamwork, self-directed learning, and computational skills. Our department remains committed to nurturing talent through academic competitions, actively encouraging students to participate in international events and providing diverse opportunities for practical experience.

Looking ahead, we will continue to support our students in engaging with global competitions, further enhancing their overall abilities and international competitiveness. Congratulations once again to our students for their commendable achievements in the 2025 MCM!
