The Department is pleased to announce that, with effect from 1 September 2026, it has been officially retitled as the Department of Data Science and Digital Innovation (DSDI).

The new designation more accurately reflects the breadth and diversity of the Department’s academic programmes while underscoring its commitment to excellence in both Data Science and Digital Innovation. The retitling signifies the Department’s continuous pursuit of innovation in teaching, research, and professional engagement, as well as its dedication to preparing students for the rapidly evolving digital era.

At the same time, the Department has been repositioned under the newly established Faculty of Communication, Information and Creative Industries, further strengthening opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and academic development across related fields.

With a growing community of students, faculty members, and researchers from diverse disciplinary backgrounds, the Department is well positioned to foster strong synergies across teaching, research, and community engagement. By embracing an interdisciplinary approach, DSDI aims to address emerging challenges and opportunities in the digital age while cultivating future leaders and innovators who can contribute meaningfully to society.

The Department looks forward to embarking on this exciting new chapter and continuing its mission of advancing knowledge, innovation, and societal impact through excellence in education and research.
