Our faculty member attended the AInsane Hackathon: Reimagining Guest Experience for Star Ferry on August 28-30, 2026, at Cyberport, where Hong Kong Shue Yan University proudly served as an academic partner. Co-organized by the Hong Kong Society of Artificial Intelligence and Innovation (HKSAII) and the AInsane initiative, and supported by industry leaders including Cyberport, Samsung, Google Cloud, and Star Ferry Hong Kong, the event challenged students to apply modern digital frameworks to one of the city's most iconic heritage landmarks. During the intensive three-hour sprint, participants leveraged cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and mobile technologies to design innovative solutions centered on two key areas: Heritage Integration & Storytelling and Environmental Comfort & Digital Engagement. The hackathon culminated in formal presentations where participants pitched their smart solutions directly to executive judges from Star Ferry, Samsung Electronics HK, Mei Ah Entertainment, and the Vocational Training Council (VTC), underscoring the University's ongoing commitment to connecting academic innovation with practical, real-world industry applications.
