HKSAR 30th Smart-Tech Design Competition: AIoT for Northern Metropolis

DSDI students are invited to take part in the HKSAR 30th Smart-Tech Design Competition: AIoT for Northern Metropolis, marking the 30th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the Motherland. Xiaomi Corporation is the major sponsor and provides full software and hardware support through its own AIoT development platform. Teams of 2–4 students are asked to build a working AIoT model on one of three themes — Smart Living Green Smart Communities or Smart Infrastructure — and present their vision for the future development of the Northern Metropolis. All participating teams will receive dedicated workshop training on the Xiaomi AIoT platform between November 2026 and January 2027, so no prior experience with the hardware is needed. Prizes sponsored by Xiaomi include smart home appliances and digital products, and the First Prize also includes a study tour to Beijing with a visit to the Xiaomi Electric Vehicle Smart Factory.

•      Competition period: October 2026 – March 2027

•      Eligibility: Teams of 2–4 students from the same institution; tertiary group limited to 30 teams, first-come-first-served

•      Online briefing session: Online Registration Form 20 October 2026 (Tue), 4:30–6:30 PM, conducted in Cantonese and Mandarin — register by 6:00 PM, 13 October 2026

•      Registration deadline: 13 November 2026

•      Workshops: November 2026 – January 2027 (in-person and online)

•      Submission deadline: 5 March 2027, 6:00 PM
