About the Talk

Esports is far more than playing games. Behind every tournament is a whole industry of professionals, from casters and commentators to event producers, team managers, broadcast crews, content creators and marketers. In this Master Talk, two guest speakers from the Hong Kong Student Esports Federation (SEFHK) introduce the esports industry and the different job positions within it, sharing what each role involves and the skills needed to get started. They will also give an overview of the competitions held in Hong Kong, from student leagues to professional events, and how students can take part. The session closes with a Q&A, where students are welcome to ask about career paths and the local esports scene.

About the Speakers

Winnie Tam is Co-Founder and Vice-Chairperson of SEFHK. A graduate of Hong Kong Hang Seng University in Cultural and Creative Industries, she is also a live streamer and a member of the women’s esports team PDQ, bringing first-hand experience of both the competitive and content sides of esports.

Ice Wong is SEFHK’s Caster Team Leader and a caster for the League of Legends Pacific Championship Series (PCS). With over ten years of experience in esports casting and tournament production, and having worked in an esports company, he offers an insider’s view of how professional events are made.

About SEFHK

The Hong Kong Student Esports Federation (SEFHK) is a volunteer-driven organisation dedicated to promoting esports in schools and among students. Guided by its vision of creating respect for all professions and its mission to bring esports into every school in Hong Kong, SEFHK provides a platform for students to learn, grow and shine. It emphasises that esports is not the same as casual gaming: through proper education it instils the right values, encourages teamwork and discipline, and works to prevent gaming addiction. With most of its committee members being students themselves, SEFHK operates purely out of passion, with the hope of building an esports environment in Hong Kong strong enough to reward its contributors and allow every student to unleash their full potential.

Who Should Attend

All DSDI students are welcome, especially those interested in game development, esports, live streaming, event production, or a career in the games and entertainment industry. Whether you are curious about how a tournament is run or wondering how to turn your passion for games into a profession, this is a rare chance to hear directly from practitioners and ask your questions in person.
