Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Data Science
Programme Overview
The Bachelor of Science with Honours in Applied Data Science (BSc-ADS) (JUPAS code: JSSY02) represents the first Bachelor of Science programme offered at Hong Kong Shue Yan University. Unlike other similar programmes offered by other institutions solely oriented towards business analytics mathematical and statistical modelling, the BSc-ADS programme aims to equip graduates with cross-disciplinary skills to understand and overcome the challenges associated with interpreting large volumes of data and communicating the results to the intended audience to enable data-driven decision making and solve real-world problems.
The unique curriculum design of the BSc-ADS programme encompasses four key areas, they are (1) Applied Data Science Fundamentals; (2) Business Analytics; (3) Digital Humanities/Social Science; and (4) Data Visualization. Students are also given the opportunity to apply their knowledge in practical settings through industry experiences prior to graduation, which include a Professional Internship and Capstone Project.
The design of the BSc-ADS programme is both distinctive and well-structured, ensuring that students cultivate a comprehensive skill set that addresses the evolving needs of the community in the digital era.
